SMA Australia opens state-of-the-art APAC Training Centre in Australia

The training centre will provide training on SMA large-scale inverter technology, which is deployed on over 60% of large-scale solar and storage plants in Australia.

SMA, one of the leading global specialists in advanced inverter technology, will today officially open its state-of-the-art training centre in Brisbane, Queensland.

The new facility will provide practical training to customers located across the APAC region, empowering their internal service teams with the skills and qualifications needed for flexible operation & maintenance on their energy plants. With SMA equipment deployed on over 60% of large-scale solar projects in Australia, the training centre will help ensure SMA is well placed to continue providing services for ongoing customer support.

This new training service platform will provide large scale customers the opportunity to undertake training on First Level Support (Maintenance and Component Replacement) of SMA Sunny Central and Sunny Central Storage 2200 to 4600 UP inverters. Customers undertaking the training will add value to their operation, by saving on annual maintenance costs and minimising response times to troubleshooting and First Level component replacements.

The investment in the training centre highlights SMA Australia's commitment to the renewable energy industry in the region. The company expects to initially train around 150 large scale industry professionals a year, with a training program for home, industrial, and commercial professionals in development for a later date.

The opening ceremony of the training centre will be attended by SMA Australia’s management team, senior APAC subsidiary members, and senior leadership from SMA’s German headquarters, including Patrick Thomas, Senior Vice President Global Service & Customer Experience.

Leaders from the renewable energy industry, including developers and EPCs, are also expected to attend. The event will be represented by Trade and Investment Queensland Global Investment Commissioner, Ross Buchanan, highlighting the significance of the investment for the Queensland economy.

The official opening of SMA's new APAC Training Centre will begin at 4pm on Thursday, 30th March with a short presentation and tour of the facility, followed by light food and beverages.

The SMA APAC Training Centre is located at 41 Amy Johnson Place, Eagle Farm, QLD.
